A BIG Day For a Small Dog

A BIG day for a small dog

If faced with a $6,000 lifesaving surgery for your 4-month-old puppy, what would you do? You would probably find a way to pay for it!

We recently opened our doors to help host a fundraiser event for a small pup in need of heart surgery. Not only was the fundraiser a success, surgery was a success, but a new passion was born for the photographer working to save her puppy’s life.

If faced with a $6,000 lifesaving heart surgery for your 4-month-old puppy, what would you do? You would probably find a way to pay for it!

Just before Fraser’s family brought him home, they found out he had a severe heart murmur. They took a chance and decided they wanted to still give him a home. This was just the beginning. After multiple trips to multiple vets and to the cardiology department at the University of Minnesota, it was found that Fraser had severe pulmonic stenosis, keeping him from getting enough oxygen to his lungs when leaving his heart. If left untreated, he likely wouldn’t make it through his first year of life.

That’s when Fraser’s human, Bre, decided to use her camera to make a difference. A branding photographer who has loved photographing at Studio Q in the past, Bre hosted a full day of Pup Portrait mini sessions to photograph pups in a most dramatic fashion.

With two small backdrops set up inside and a table to check-in each new pup outside, the day ran incredibly smoothly.

Foot traffic brought in more donations and additional mini session sign-ups. The day was more than successful as Fraser’s surgery was completely paid for from the session!

More so, Bre found a new passion. Founder of branding photography and videography company, Uncommon Collaborative, Bre had so much fun photographing dogs and engaging with them and their humans, she launched a new business!

The Dog Photog will be hosting more dog photography full and mini sessions at Studio Q in the future — and we can’t wait to treat the pups with lots of tummy scratches after they sit so nicely for their sessions!
